Using food to protect food.
We use ingredients universally found in the peels, pulp, and seeds of all plants – including plants we already eat – and apply them as a thin layer to the surface of fresh fruits and vegetables in order to reinforce the existing natural peel. In doing so, we help retain peak taste, juiciness, and nutrients for longer, reducing reliance on refrigeration and harmful pesticides, waxes, or plastics, and reducing waste along the way.

Our sustainability impact since 2021

And we're leading the way.

Let’s talk about the noise.
Leading with innovation means challenging the status quo, and that has made us a target. In a unfortunately complex food system, it’s easy for mis- and disinformation to spread. Apeel stands firmly for transparency and science-backed solutions, and we won’t let disinformation distort the truth about our work. Our ingredients are all existing, common, and widely used food ingredients in the U.S., the European Union, and globally. Our products have been thoroughly reviewed for safety and efficacy by U.S., European, and other worldwide regulatory agencies and legally allowed on markets for years. And our sustainability impact has been third-party validated. Yet Apeel has been the target of a coordinated online disinformation campaign—one that maliciously distorts facts and spreads confusion about our products, our founders, and our mission. We believe transparency builds trust. That’s why we openly publish what’s in our products, going beyond regulated labeling laws. For clear answers, we encourage you to visit our FAQs: Facts and Safety page and a letter from our CEO, Luiz, addressing the disinformation directly.
